Profile Shots

Thinking back, photographs have always been a part of my life, but my most vivid memories were of a local photographer who made house calls to take family portraits, birthdays, and even important occasions like First Communion. His camera was fascinating. Back then, it was a luxury item, especially in our neighborhood. I looked forward to receiving the prints, and I cherished them. I carried the love with me through adulthood. I also remember being fascinated by the well-known South African photographer, Peter Magubane (who even worked for The Times in the mid-80s). His photographs were artistry. I didn’t pursue photography as a career then, but simply enjoyed it as my hobby. Only 6 years ago, I started following my passion and pursuing it as a career. I enrolled at Oakton Community College and have been inspired by the professors there, such as Brian Franczyk and Angelo Mantanas, to name a few. In 2018, being chosen to be part of a student exhibit was thrilling. I have also attended photography classes at the Chicago Botanic Gardens with talented photographers like Jack Carlson and Paul Lucas. I obtained my Certification in Photography. I then worked as an In-Hospital Newborn Photographer, which was very fulfilling, working with families. I love finding glimpses of beauty in the everyday because if we look deep enough, we are immersed in it. I enjoy doing Food Photography, Family Photography, and Portrait Photography. I hope my images can bring forth the beauty in the mundane and be pleasing to the viewer. Paul Strand once said, “The artist’s world is limitless. It can be found anywhere, far from where he lives or a few feet away. It is always on his doorstep.”
